Imagination Ring

Based on Brazil during the Empire, this ring around the lake represents Brazilian history from its Independence in 1822 to Modern day, but it mostly focuses on pre-republic Brazil. This is where most of the parade route goes through, which has a Carnival parade from time to time.

Exiting from Buena Vista Street, you enter a Copacabana Beach-style promenade, complete with palm trees and samba music. This circles the entire ring. The ring circles a large lake with an island in the center, surrounded by fountains. These two features are used in the nighttime spectacular.

Going to the left of the ring are a bunch of old buildings resembling the coastal city of Paranagua. Dom Pedro Diner is a sit-down restaurant offering Brazilian cuisine. Around the entrance to the World of Pixar are three buildings, all of which face the water. Turtle Talk with Crush is located in the largest of these buildings. It contains two theaters, one for a Portuguese-speaking audience and one for English-speakers. The two other buildings, which are next to that one and are on the two sides of the entrance to World of Pixar, are both shops. The one on the left is Santiago's Soccer Supplies and the other is Isabel's Historical Goods. Further down the street is a colorful town square where you can ride Grande Turne de Samba starring the Three Caballeros. This is like Gran Fiesta Tour at Epcot, but instead, they are touring Brazil and take you to see the sights, sounds, and smells of the country.

Further around the ring are two sets of shops and restaurants near the entrance to Adventure Lagoon. There's John VI Bistrot and Carnival Shop, then there's Copacabana Cafe and 1822 Harbor Street Store.

Further past that is a big pond and the entrance to the Castle of Magical Dreams. Further past that and near an alternate entrance to Fantasyland is the Beachouse, where you can meet Mickey Mouse. Between the entrances to Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are the businesses (in order from left to right) Portuguese Posessions, Samba Store, Tribal Amazon Table, Highlands House, and Copacabana Theater, where The Golden Mickeys is hosted.Going back towards Buena Vista Street is Imperial Eats.

Historical references:
Isabel's Historical Goods--Isabel was the heirline to the throne before the Monarchy was overthrown
Dom Pedro Diner--named after the two emperors of the same name
John IV Bistrot--named after the King of Portugal when he was exiled there during the Napoleonic Wars
1822 Harbor Street Store--1822 was the year Brazil gained independence from Portugal

I have had some mixed perceptions of this. I feel like it is authentically Brazilian, but I feel like I didn't have the best ideas on this. I kind of feel like my choice to base this off of the Brazilian Empire might have been a mistake, but that was the glory days before the flawed Republic came. I have always conceived a bigger hub than a traditional Disney Park, similar to Shanghai's Gardens of Imagination. I originally had Walt Disney Circle, a small area with Disney references. However, it evolved into something that reflected the culture of the location of the park.

  1. I actually really like you including the culture and history of the location here in the park. I think it’s really interesting and a great way to show pride in the area. I love that you put The Golden Mickeys in too! Those are so fun! How did you learn about the historical references you used? Was this when you researched Brazil?
